Access Your Account Fidium Fiber Just Won 370+ Ookla Speedtest Rankings
Internet speed is only half the story. How your connection behaves when the whole house is online at once matters just as much. That is what makes Fidium Fiber’s latest news worth your attention. In August 2026, Fidium announced it earned more than 370 top performance marks in Ookla Speedtest Rankings, which analyzed Q1 to Q2 2026 Speedtest Intelligence data based on real tests run by real people across 10 states. Below, we break down what those wins mean for your daily internet life, where Fidium performed best, and how to find out if you can get it at your address.
The Awards Fidium Won
Ookla is the company behind Speedtest, the tool millions of people use to check their internet speed. Its rankings come from consumer-initiated tests, meaning everyday users running speed checks on their own connections. That makes these results a real-world scorecard.
Across 10 states, Fidium’s 100% fiber network racked up more than 370 first-place finishes spread across five categories: download speed, upload speed, responsiveness, reliability, and gaming experience. Fidium earned 152 wins for most responsive internet, with latency averaging 30% lower than the second-place provider, including cable and wireless competitors. It took 108 wins for fastest upload speeds. And across 52 individual markets, Fidium ranked first in at least three of the four core categories simultaneously. Winning one category is nice. Sweeping most of them in a single town is the sign of a network built to hold up under pressure.
What These Rankings Mean for Your Everyday Internet
Speed numbers look impressive on a chart, but you feel the difference in specific moments. Here is how Fidium’s wins translate to the things you do every day.
Responsiveness, often measured as latency, is the delay between your click and the internet’s response. Lower is better. When Fidium posts latency 30% lower than the runner-up, that means smoother video calls, faster-loading pages, and gaming without the frustrating lag spikes that get you eliminated. This is also why Fidium’s network earned wins specifically for gaming experience, a category that punishes any connection that stutters under load.
Upload speed is the quiet hero most people ignore until it fails them. Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) connections are famous for fast downloads and slow uploads. That imbalance is why your cloud backup crawls, your Zoom video looks grainy, and posting a video takes an eternity. Fidium has symmetrical fiber, so upload speed matches download speed. Its 108 upload wins are the reason a household full of remote workers, streamers, and students can all push data out at once without one person’s big upload dragging everyone else down.
Reliability rounds it out. A fiber line is dedicated to your home rather than shared across the whole neighborhood like cable, so it does not bog down at 8 p.m. when everyone streams at once. Consistent performance during peak hours is the difference between “usually fine" and “always works."
Fidium’s top performance states
A Region-by-Region Look at Where Fidium Dominated Ookla Speedtest Rankings
Most of Fidium’s wins came from northern New England, where the company has concentrated its fiber buildout. If you live in this part of the country, you should strongly consider Fidium as your internet connection.
New Hampshire
New Hampshire was Fidium’s biggest story. The company swept all five statewide performance categories, taking the state’s fastest download and upload speeds, lowest latency, most reliable internet, and best gaming experience. Several of those were firsts, including statewide wins for download speed, reliability, and gaming. Fidium earned more than 130 top rankings across the state, reaching the Seacoast, Greater Manchester, the Capital Region, the Lakes Region, and the North Country. Statewide, upload speeds were 45% faster than the nearest competitor, and in cities like Laconia and Portsmouth, Fidium’s upload speeds were more than 200% faster than the closest rival. Towns including Bedford, Hooksett, Londonderry, Manchester, and Nashua saw Fidium take all four top local rankings at once.
Vermont
Fidium secured its first statewide performance wins in Vermont, earning recognition for the fastest download and upload speeds and the most reliable internet in the state. It picked up more than 70 top rankings, reaching Chittenden, Lamoille, Franklin, and Addison counties. Statewide, upload speeds were 35% faster than the nearest competitor, and in Morristown the gap was staggering: Fidium’s upload speeds were 1,086% faster than the closest rival. Stowe and Waterbury both saw Fidium sweep all four local categories.
Maine
Maine delivered more than 85 top rankings, covering the Portland-Cumberland, Lewiston-Auburn, and Bangor markets, plus communities across Aroostook, Hancock, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, and York counties. In Bucksport and Kennebunkport, Fidium’s upload speeds came in more than 1,500% faster than the nearest competitor. Scarborough, York, and Androscoggin County each saw Fidium take all four top local rankings for upload, download, reliability, and responsiveness.
Why Fiber is Sweeping These Comparisons
There is a reason a fiber provider keeps topping these charts, and it comes down to physics and design. Fiber-optic lines carry data as pulses of light through glass strands, which lets them move enormous amounts of information with very little delay. Because Fidium runs a 100% fiber-to-the-premise network, that light path reaches all the way to your home rather than handing off to slower copper along the way.
Two design choices matter most here. First, fiber delivers symmetrical speeds, so your uploads keep pace with your downloads rather than lagging behind. Second, your fiber connection is dedicated rather than shared with the block, so a busy evening does not slow you down. Fidium has backed this with real investment, investing more than $2 billion in its network since 2020 and on track to surpass 2 million fiber passes by the end of 2027, including 1.5 million in northern New England. That buildout is why the coverage keeps expanding into rural and previously underserved towns.
What You Get and What It Costs
Fidium keeps its offer straightforward, which is refreshing in an industry known for fine print. Home plans start at $30 a month, with symmetrical speeds that scale up to 8 Gig on the newest tiers, and those top plans now include WiFi 7 for stronger whole-home coverage. Across the lineup, you get no annual contracts, no data caps, and free professional installation, so there is no penalty for changing your plan later and no surprise overage fees. Pricing, promotions, and available speeds vary by address, so checking your specific location is the only way to see your options.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Ookla and why do its Speedtest rankings matter?
Ookla is the company behind Speedtest, the widely used tool for measuring internet performance. Its rankings are built from consumer-initiated tests, meaning they reflect the speeds real users experience at home rather than idealized lab results. That is why a strong showing in Ookla’s analysis is a strong sign of how a network actually performs day-to-day.
How is fiber internet different from cable?
Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) internet sends data over copper lines shared across your neighborhood, which usually means fast downloads but much slower uploads, plus slowdowns during peak evening hours. Fiber, like Fidium’s network, carries data as light over a line dedicated to your home, delivering symmetrical upload and download speeds and steadier performance when everyone is online at once. For video calls, cloud backups, gaming, and large file uploads, that difference is easy to feel.
Does Fidium Fiber require a contract?
No. Fidium’s home internet plans are month-to-month with no annual commitment and no early termination fees. You also get unlimited data with no caps, so there are no overage charges to worry about. You can check current pricing and any active promotions for your specific address before you decide.
